- Facilitation
Do you cut your own hair? Change your own oil? Manage your stock portfolio? Do you do all of those things, or do you sometimes retain an expert to take care of things for you?
Maybe you could design and facilitate the meeting yourself, but it isn’t the best use of your time. You should be observing, listening, participating, reflecting, not worrying about the schedule or the next item on the agenda. Let us bring our years of experience and expertise to bear on the task instead. You can concentrate on the development of your team–after all, they are the source of all your strategic advantage!
- Coaching
It is seldom a lack of technical expertise that holds people back in their careers. Instead, it’s how they get along with others: direct reports, bosses, peers, customers, and others. We have coached people at all levels, from the C-suite of Fortune 1000 companies to line employees in manufacturing plants. To be clear, when we undertake a coaching engagement, the company may be paying the bill, but our client is the coachee, to whom we owe a duty of confidentiality and fair dealing. Without a trusting relationship between the coach and his client, there’s no point in taking this road. So you can be sure that the relationship is a safe environment for tackling sometimes delicate issues.
- Consulting
You’re an expert in your business–you know what’s going on in your market, what the emerging trends are, the players to watch. You can’t stay on top of all that and also know what is happening in applied social sciences, leadership development, the academic research on building effective high-performance teams. Leave that to us. You may know you are ready to take on a growth spurt, but not know exactly what makes sense. A focused, confidential conversation may well be the next step forward to defining that next strategic direction. Let’s talk about it!
- Process and intervention design
When we help you design a group process, whether it is strategic planning, role and goal clarification, process mapping and redesign, conflict resolution, new leader integration, or something else, we consider a wide variety of tools and techniques from the field of organization development (OD) which may not be familiar to you. Depending on your culture and circumstances, we might use a Search Conference approach, or Open Space Technology, or some other whole systems method. We might throw in a What/How grid for self-assessment, or illustrate how communication uncovers potential new territory using a Johari Window.
- Specialized Learning Processes
Some people don’t like the word “training.” To them, that’s something you do with animals to teach them a trick. What we are after in the modern workplace is opportunities for the organization and its members to learn and grow and adapt to the changing environment. First, you have to get their attention. Whatever the area, be it technical knowledge, sales technique, or a particular applied skill, we can help design a learning process which will leave participants eager to apply what they’ve acquired to real challenges in the workplace. Together, we can make it worth remembering!
About
So many topics and trends, fads and buzzwords, you could lose your marbles!
We help organizations decide, as a whole, where they want to go–and then we help them get there. Call it Whole Systems Strategic Planning, if you like. And unlike many consultants, we don’t just help you make the plan, we help you implement it in ways that fit your culture, your values, and your budget.

Municipal Torpor in Cape Town [12/21]
Imagine that someone comes into town with the intention of opening a restaurant, surveys the neighbourhoods, and chooses to acquire a property that is not zoned for commercial use, has small amount of space under a questionable “grandfathered” non-conforming use permit to be used only as a shop, not a cafe, and has limited space …
